Cohoes Bowling Arena has been in business for more than 50 years under the ownership of Tom Walsh Sr and Lorraine Walsh. Tom Walsh Sr. started work at the bowling arena as a pin setter (in the days when bowling pins were still set by hand) under the ownership of Kenneth and Elizabeth Gray. This was not only before the installation of automatic pin setting machinery, but also before the existence of automated foul lines.

In 1963, Tom Walsh Sr., with his wife Lorraine, purchased the bowling center.  Under their ownership, leagues for kids were introduced, and bowling became a sport that attracted participants of all ages.  Since the purchase of Cohoes Bowl, Tom and Lorraine went on to purchase Green Island Lanes and Uncle Sam lanes.

Today the bowling centers are a family affair and are run by Tom's sons Danny Walsh, David Walsh, and Tom Walsh Jr.  Together all of the bowling centers provide entertainment to our neighborhood family and friends.
